When it comes to matters of the heart, I really do not think that I am any wiser than I was when I was 14 years old! In fact I can actually say that after spending the last 7 months as a single mum, dating was much easier when I was a teenager. Maybe it is due to the fact that as a teenager you are care free, don’t question relationships and certainly do not have children involved.
Whatever it boils down to, all I know is dating when you are just about to reach the big 3-0 milestone certainly does not get any easier with age. In fact you actually have more questions, possibly mainly due to the fact you are more aware of how it feels to have your heart broken.
I do have to admit that online dating is helping to elevate the pressure of dating as you can really get to know someone well before actually having to meet your date face to face. Last night I was introduced to a new form of social media and in a round-a-bout way another tool to aid online dating. Kik Messenger is a tool that allows users to interact on smartphones – an instant messenger that enables users to send and receive messages just like texts.
Albeit friends tell me to just arrange a date and meet someone quickly, I just do not have the free time in which to do this. My friend, a serial dater usually has 3 or 4 dates a week, the thought of being able to do this is great but I do believe that he has been unable to find love due to his quick turnaround on dates. I am a firm believer in the fact it takes time to find love and you definitely need to work on it. Which is why I am quite happy to continue emailing and messaging potential dates until we both agree the time is right to meet.
