Did the first date go awful? Were there some things that you probably shouldn’t have said? Well not to worry. First dates are nerve-wracking and aren’t showing the other person the real you or you the real them. Here are a few reasons why you should go on the second date, even if the first was a disaster.
- Bad day? Perhaps the date didn’t go so smoothly because your date (or you!) had a bad day. External factors out of your hands, work was frustrating, the traffic was bad, or perhaps they got out of the wrong side of the bed.
- Nerves. This is the main culprit of a bad first date. You’ve never met each other before and don’t know what to expect. Perhaps they said some silly things that made you re-consider your opinion on them, but this is probably down to nerves. A second date will brush the slate clean and mean things go smoother.
- First-date questions. These aren’t the best questions. Yeah, you get to know a little bit about the other person, but it’s not really deep, personal “this is who they are” questions. On the second date you can leave behind the “what’s your favourite colour?” questions and get down to the nitty gritty.
Arrange a second date even if the first was a disaster. The nerves will be gone, and you can think up some great questions that aren’t one word answers.
