Dinner dates are usually stress-free as somebody else is cooking and washing up. However, don’t ruin your chances by making a few, small mistakes that a lot of people make. A lot of them are common sense, but people do forget.
- Basic manners. Some people forget their manners when they’re on a dinner date. Some examples to follow are: don’t be rude to the staff, if you’re having a problem with them speak to the manager; put your napkin in your lap; don’t talk with your mouth full (how many times have we seen this? Yuck!). Really simple things that will ensure the date goes smoothly.
- Drinking. It’s okay to have a drink with a meal, but keep it sensible. Don’t get drunk because you may find yourself slurring your words, or even tripping over. In short you’ll look like an idiot. Besides, drinking is expensive at dinner and you don’t want to break the bank over this.
- Dressing correctly. Now, there are many different occasions that you could be taking your date out to. If it’s a Sunday lunch down the pub, then jeans and a shirt is fine, but iron the shirt and don’t wear your scruffy shoes. Also, ladies, if you’re going to wear a dress or skirt, don’t have everything on show. You will send out the wrong signals.
Dinner dates don’t have to nerve-wracking events. Have fun, keep those manners in mind and it’ll go smoothly.
